Comments about Disaster Survival Kits?

We strongly suggest people to stay away from electronic gadgets when selecting the items for their disaster survival kits. For example crank lights and shake lights or solar powered lights are useless when you need light instantly. Only battery powered flashlights will give you light the moment you need it. Also, stay away from those combination units that offer light, radio, phone charger etc. all in one unit. They have too many switches and buttons and are often very confusing to use, especially in the dark. The ones with cell-phone chargers usually damage your cell batteries in one or two charge cycles because they are not power regulated which is a must for all cell phone chargers.

thanks so much for posting this ~ people don't understand that it is so important to be prepared for these contingencies. The earthquake that hit Haiti was one of the most devastating natural disasters and the earthquake in Japan his struck me with fear. I've never been one to be concerned about earthquakes, but after these last couple of natural disasters, the truth is my gf and I are really scared. we just moved into our own apartment and i bought an earthquake kit for the both of us. to say the least I've bought straps for just about everything in my home. Again thanks for sharing Paul,

sincerely,

paranoid :P
